South Africa Trip 2016 – Part 2 – Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park was a little bit different from the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.

How?

The part of Sabi Sands that I went to, the land was privately owned. And you couldn’t go into anyone else’s private lands. If you happened to see an animal on someone else’s land, the furthest you could go was to the edge of your land.

Kruger National Park, was that- a national park. With paved roads and lots of cars. You didn’t have to be part of a tour, and could take your own car in. Therefore, it was a lot more crowded (car-wise). Although there are paved roads, you are in the animals homes. They eat what the hunt, and get hunted and eaten.

Kruger and Sabi Sands are right next to each other. There is no barrier restricting the animals to go from one part to the other. So at different times of the year, the animals can be anywhere.

During this trip I went to at the end of October -in Sabi Sands I mostly saw – Zebras, Rhino’s, Wildebeests, Water buffalo, and 1 stray elephant- just to name a few. At Kruger- I mostly saw – Giraffes, Elephants, Hippos, and Lions (again just to name a few).

I’m glad I was able to do game drives at both because it was a different experience and different animals!

Anyways, time for some pictures!

The next post will be more scenic – the Panoramic Route from Sabi Sands / Kruger back to the Johannesburg Airport.
