2012 New Years Resolution

Friday, December 16th, 2011

I never really make new years resolutions.

But I decided to make some for 2012.

- 365 project. Take a photo every day, post a photo every day (Even if it’s just with my camera phone and not my actual camera).

You can follow some of my randomness and random photos through instagram @chrissykimphotography. I just linked it to my twitter @chrissykimphoto.

I have a list of things/topics/subjects to take photos of. I’ve been looking at other peoples 365 project topics.

- Live a healthier lifestyle. If you don’t know me very well, I get very tired easily, and I sleep a lot. I went to the doctors the other day to make sure there’s nothing actually wrong with me. So hopefully, the results come back saying that I’m not anemic or that there’s anything actually wrong with me.

I also need to exercise, and eat more healthy.

I already try to eat healthy, but I really need to cut back on the Mexican food.

-Read a little bit each day. I need to schedule some time every day to read. I have a lot of books on my To Read list, and I need to make a dent in that list.

-Don’t stress over the little things. If you know me well, my body doesn’t handle stress very well.

I need to not take things too personal. (except when it comes to photography and editing).

A quote I found on pinterest — “Life is too short to stress yourself with people who don’t even deserve to be an issue in your life”.

-Travel. This past year, I was blessed to have lived in Korea, travel to China twice, and go to a few islands in the Philippines. I want to travel more, and explore the world a little bit more, even if it’s just within the United States.

I do want to go on a Safari trip in Africa **fingers crossed** It probably won’t happen in 2012, but hopefully it will sometime in my life.

Ok that’s really it. There’s no point in putting something I will not achieve, like losing weight and stuff like that :p

Just have to live positively in 2012 and be happy with what I’ve got!

New for the 2011 Holiday Season — Burlap CD Covers!

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

So I’ve been trying to think of ways to make the holiday season a little bit more special. So with every portrait session (maybe even events) for this season, you will be receiving your DVD of high resolution images in these!

Burlap CD Covers! (Obviously, they will be in a regular CD case, but then I will put the CD cases in these!)

I had 3 different fabrics, and 2 different types of ‘designs’.

The top ones with the ribbon going around the middle and with a little touch of a jewel have sew on snaps. The bottom ones with the ribbon around the edges has velcro.

Red stripes.

Blue plaid.

Pink and brown floral.

I can’t wait to send these out!

And I’m glad I was able to put my sewing machine into good use :)

Pumpkin Carving 2011– San Diego, CA

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

So can you believe I’ve never carved a pumpkin before? Ok, well I suppose since I haven’t done a lot of things before, it’s easy to believe.

Me and my housemates decided to carve some pumpkins..

What’s pumpkin carving without some pumpkin face cups! (So I decided, for every holiday, I’m going to buy theme plastic cups! They were only 98 cents for 4 cups! And it made our pumpkin carving a little bit more festive)

Hard at work

So Sarah started carving one (to the left) and then gave up as she realized it was not going to work out, so she started making another carving off to the side (to the right).

However, she failed again, because her whole Hello Kitty face came out

What it’s supposed to look like

My Hello Kitty. I must say, it’s pretty good for a first timer! ;p

And, our finished masterpieces..

Hello Kitty face, Transformer, Hello Kitty

I’m pretty proud of mine ;p

Maybe I will carve one more pumpkin before halloween ;p

Isabella and Paulina — San Diego, CA

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Here are Isabella and Paulina together!

These are of them just playing around and being silly.

The best photos for kids, are often the candid ones.

I told them to throw some leaves in the air and to throw up.. Mostly it was them just throwing leaves at each other..

Paulina trying to throw some leaves.. Instead she got some twigs and sticks.. which got caught on her dress. cute.

She figured it out!

Maybe next time I’ll have them roll around in mud or something ;p

My New Obsession — Pinterest

Friday, October 14th, 2011

So I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Pinterest, but it is absolutely my new obsession.

So you know when you see something online that you want to bookmark, well instead of actually bookmarking it, you can pin it!

It saves the picture onto one of your boards, and then if you click on the picture, it will take you back to the original post. So no more lame bookmarking.

You can create as many boards as you want, and pin as much stuff as you want to your boards..

Here are all my boards, Photos, I Want, Home/Decor, Before/After, Party Ideas, Wedding Inspiration, Places, Food, DIY, Kid Stuff, Organization, Printables.

I took a snap shot.

Photos.

These photos are things that inspire me, or that I want to somewhat replicate.

I want

Most of the I want stuff are large bathrooms with awesome  tubs, or something home related.

Home Decor

How I want to decorate my future home(s).

Wedding Inspiration

I know, I’m not getting married anytime soon (I’m totally 100% single :) ) but it’s never too early to start an inspiration board! Just some ideas on photos, save the dates, trash the dress, decorations, party favors.

Places

Places around the world that just look beautiful and that I would love to travel to and take photos at.

Kid Stuff

Again, I’m nowhere near having a kid, but I like kids, and there are just some cute ideas and photo ideas.

I have a few more boards, but the snap shots weren’t as pretty :)

You can follow me on Pinterest (following the stuff I pin). Or if you want an invite to pinterest let me know!

I follow a few blogs online that I have bookmarked, so occassionaly I will pin things from those blogs, but usually how I pin things is I just go to the Pinterest home page, and click everything, so all the most recent pins show up and I just scroll through and look at them and start pinning.

Seriously, whoever thought of this is a genius. I love it. (You can also link it with your twitter so that things you pin you tweet as well, but I don’t really twitter).

You would think that the way I’m talking about this I’m on their marketing and promotions team, but I’m not. I just love this site!!

Crazy things happening, and a new project coming

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

So there has been some crazy things that have happened the past few days in my life and with the people I know.

Because my mind has been everywhere, while backing into my tandem garage, I hit my side mirror along the entrance wall. So my mirror was dangling, some of the hinges came off, and that silver hood part came off..

This was the first accident I had with my car. And of course, it had to be with myself Â

So I went to the auto body shop, the guy popped it back in.

He kept saying it was funny.

I told him-No, it’s not funny! It’s sad!

My side view mirror is no longer motorized. It is now a manual side view mirror.

So I’ve been fishing with an idea, and hopefully I can launch that idea by mid october. I can’t really tell you what it is, but hopefully it will be awesome! :)

Missoni for Target 9/13/2011

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

So I’ve been waiting for Missoni for Target to come out! When I heard about the collaboration I got really excited.

I should have written the date in my calendar.

I tried going on Target’s website, but the site was down due to the high volume of traffic.

By the time I got to Target, around 1 pm there was nothing left for me to buy! I was so bummed!

Anyways, I took a few photos with my handy Iphone. I didn’t want to walk around the store with my SLR.

So here are a few things that were left.

Cardigans for little girls.

Comforter

Rain boots for girls.

Ballet flats for girls.

I wish they had these in my size! They were so cute!

I guess I will have to go to Target everyday to see when they are going to restock the Missoni For Target items!

Good thing I live within a 5 minute drive to a Target :)

I couldn’t let a trip to Target go to waste, so I bought a loofa.

San Diego Power Outage September 8, 2011 — San Diego, CA

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Wow. Yesterday, San Diego had some major power outage. I mean, we’ve had black outs before, but not for this long!

I got home a little bit after 3:30pm opened the garage door, parked my car. Then while I was closing the garage door, it just stopped. I was thinking what the heck? Are you kidding me? So I ran upstairs and checked my power box thing (?) and all the switches were turned on. Ok, whatever, I will leave my garage door open. There was no power to the whole house! I had just gotten a fan too. Are you kidding me? It was hot! Nothing was working, I figured hey, it’s just me, I’ll just wait it out a bit.

I take a short nap, I wake up sweating and hearing my name being yelled from outside. I look outside, no ones there. I must have been imagining things. So I try to go back to sleep. I hear my name again. It’s my roommate. She wants me to help her open the garage door more so she can park her car in the garage. I find out, it’s not just our house, it’s all of San Diego.

We had nothing to do. So we decided to go to the pool. Took a swim and read a magazine. (If you’re wondering what magazine, I read Glamour).

(Sorry, it’s a camera phone photo. But I do like the ap instagram because I look rustic looking photos).

We went back in before it got dark so we didn’t have to take a shower in the dark. I still ended up taking one in the dark because my bathroom doesn’t really get a lot of natural light in.

We decided to see if anything was open, because we needed candles before it got really dark. Nothing was open, big surprise. Good thing we have ways of getting things that we really need.

Then it got really dark, and we had nothing to do. We didn’t want to play board games by the candles because it was too hot. So we decided to make a trek outside around 8:30.

The options were go to a casino so we can eat, or drive up to Irvine.

We got about halfway up to Irvine and saw lights on in Oceanside. So we stopped at Oceanside and got some Mexican Food. Then drove back down. Lights were slowly starting to come back on.

We got home around 10:30 and our power was working, but a lot of people still didn’t have power.

That’s my story. What’s yours?

Oh, yeah, I realized, if a natural disaster happened, I would be very unprepared. I just had a case of water a can of soup. I guess I should go grocery shopping so I can be more prepared next time :/

At the park with Stone– San Diego, Ca

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

What’s a good thing about going to the park with your friend that has a kid? You’re not some creepy person with a camera trying to take photos!

Stone on the swings.

Trying to climb up some crazy stairs.

Ok, I ended up being a little bit creepy and took a photo of some random little girl. But it was cute! She was playing by herself under the slide, in the shade with sand!

‘Til next time!
